On Thursday evening, Krewe and the CFDA hosted an exclusive shopping cocktail party with 100 percent of the net profits benefiting the CFDA Foundation’s Disaster Relief initiatives. Krewe New Orleans Eyewear Founder Stirling Barrett’s newly-opened Soho residency was at capacity with industry creatives eager to support. Amid the crowds, we talked with Stirling about the event.
What prompted you to organize an event to contribute to CFDA Foundation’s Disaster Relief initiative?
Being based in the South in New Orleans and understanding first-hand what it’s like to go through such a devastating event, we wanted to support the CFDA’s Disaster Relief Fund in any way possible. With Krewe having a store in New York, it really seemed like a natural opportunity.
Any exciting projects coming up?
We’re obviously super excited about our new SoHo residency. We’re also going into holiday, so we’re about to start releasing exciting new product. I can’t wait for everyone to see the exciting new frames we’ll be launching moving forward.
What’s your favorite item in the store?
It’s really hard to choose just one, but I am a big fan of Howard optical frames. I obviously always love St. Louis, but I’m also really excited about the Orleans Blinker we’re launching soon. It all comes down to finding the right frame for your face shape that also represents your individual style, and I think that’s what our store is great at.
Describe the Krewe brand in three words.
It’s so hard, but I would say romantic, New Orleans, and then modern-iconic eyewear. We really talk about the brand in phrases as opposed to in words.
