Cultivating emerging talent to secure fashion’s future is important to the CFDA, and it’s a value we share with LIFEWTR.
On Thursday morning, CFDA and LIFEWTR put the spotlight on three CFDA+ designers Adam Dalton Blake, Tiffany Huang, and Ghazaleh Khalifeh at their first-ever New York Fashion Week presentation at Pier 59.
Katie Holmes, who stunned in a Zac Posen dress, came out to show her support.
“I really liked the collections. It’s exciting to see their ideas and the process and execution,” she said. “It’s essential to support emerging designers.”
To sum up the three aesthetics, Adam Dalton Blake’s take on tennis channeled a street vibe, while Tiffany Huang’s ghost-inspired collection brimmed with joy and was coolly enhanced via an augmented reality app developed by Kailu Guan, who is also a CFDA+ alum. Ghazaleh Khalifeh’s layered textures, meanwhile, exuded pure romance with a nod to the depth of her Persian heritage.
Chic Sketch illustrators nicely added to the overall vibe of the presentation.
So how did the designers feel on the big day? Tiffany Huang found it all very “surreal.” “I am so happy I get to share this experience with my family, my mother and friends,” she said. “I love seeing this project come to life and how everybody is interacting with my garments.”
Ghazaleh Khalifeh couldn’t conceal her joy. “I feel completely elated,” she said. “I feel as if I am drifting on a wave of color and amazing support.”
Adam Dalton Blake called this moment at Pier 59 “everything every little girl or boy dreams of. This being the starting point is truly extraordinary. The partnership with CFDA and LIFEWTR has made this beginning very special.”
