Congratulations are in order for Selima Salaun!

On October 15, the eyewear designer and founder of Selima Optique will be inducted into the Accessories Council Hall of Fame with an intimate cocktail reception at Indochine.

The CFDA member, who is also part of the Eyewear Designers of the CFDA (edCFDA), has been making her mark for more than three decades and played a key role in making eyewear an expression of personal style versus just a functional necessity. Case in point, the Aldo sunglasses that became a trademark for the late Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bono, Rihanna, Liv Tyler and Marina Abramović also wore her chic frames.

Trained in Paris, Salaun came to New York and worked with Royal Optique, then managed Alain Mikli’s New York boutique before founding her eyewear line in 1993 with an enduring commitment to craftsmanship at the heart of the brand’s ethos.

The Hall of Fame recognizes individuals whose talent, leadership and body of work have made an extraordinary and lasting contribution to the accessories industry.

“Long before glasses were recognized as one of our most expressive accessories, Selima understood their power to define a look and communicate individuality,” said Karen Giberson, President and CEO of the Accessories Council.

Salaun has a longstanding commitment to animal welfare and half of the event’s proceeds will go to Tamerlaine Sanctuary & Preserve, which is dedicated to the rescue, protection and compassionate care of animals in need.
