Sade Mims is proving that artists need time and space to create—and the wait is well worth it.

The creative director and participant of The Designers Hub, which was founded by CFDA Board member Bethann Hardison with the support of the CFDA, unveiled her Closeness collection, which speaks to the affection and intimacy behind the process of creation.

“I’m really grateful to be creating a full body of work again. As a person who is always honoring where I am, this feels incredibly refreshing to release and for it to be so well received,” said Mims. “I feel like this is me relearning my old self, becoming more tactile, challenging my skill sets and stepping out of my comfort zone, and I’m really happy about that.”

Collection highlights include the introduction of knitwear and a version of the brand’s signature EDAS buckle reimagined in brush steel to juxtapose the chunky knit belt. Additionally, a playful hoodie with an overlayed knit bralette adds a fresh, fun twist to a closet staple.

Process plays a huge role in the brand’s creative exercise, and Mims plans to release additional items under the collection with offerings that continue exploring the theme and meaning of closeness in tangible forms.
