Sometimes, that little special touch can make all the difference. Take Erin Beatty, who, for Rentrayage, showed a collection of what one would deem expected—were it not for that tweak, that small detail that’s just the right among off, that clash of patterns. Beatty did just that—and made it work. Think a denim shirt with a bustier-style floral fabric inlay, pathwork jeans, and an oversize shirt dress with a plaid top and solid skirt with an even hemline.

“For this collection, I went inside,” she says, “[and searched myself for what I wanted. Comfort, beauty and something a bit strange and perfectly off. Unexpected functional beauty seems a most pressing sentiment right now.” Mission accomplished, and charmingly so.
