To designers around the world – from students to emerging and established – Ralph Lauren is an inspiration.

Now, at Lauren embarks on his 50th anniversary in business, the CFDA is proud to announce plans for A CFDA Members Salute to Ralph Lauren at the CFDA Fashion Awards on June 4th.

This special tribute is the first of its kind, and is given to the designer on behalf of the CFDA’s membership of over 500 foremost womenswear, menswear, accessory and jewelry designers.

There are many reasons Lauren is receiving this award now, from his impact on American and global fashion to his leadership and philanthropy – think his instrumental role in Fashion Targets Breast Cancer and Seventh on Sale.

He is a role model to so many aspiring talents and many of America’s best designers worked for him before successfully starting on their own –Tory Burch, Vera Wang, Reed Krakoff, John Varvatos, and Jeffrey Banks among them.

Needless to say, the admiration of Ralph Lauren – both the designer himself and his accomplishments – is universal.

“From starting with a tie at Bloomingdale’s to building a global brand, I respect and admire everything that Ralph Lauren stands for, including his philanthropy and kindness,” CFDA Chairwoman Diane von Furstenberg said. “This is the perfect moment for CFDA Members to salute this icon of American fashion.”
