The lineup for the next New York Fashion Week: Men’s, set for January 30-February 2, 2017, will feature a new name: Raf Simons.
The Belgian designer will be showing his namesake collection in New York for the first time, with the venue to be announced at a later date.
“The CFDA is delighted to add Raf Simons to NYFW: Men’s,” said Steven Kolb, President and CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), which produces the men’s collections in New York. “Raf is one of the most influential designers on the international fashion stage. His creativity and energy are a welcome addition as we continue to grow this important platform for American menswear.”
Simons launched his menswear in the mid-1990s, quickly establishing himself as one of the major forces in fashion. During his time as Creative Director for Jil Sander, he added womenswear to his oeuvre, to rave reviews. He continued the success at Dior during his three-and-a-half years as Creative Director of the women’s collection. In August, Simons was named Chief Creative Officer of Calvin Klein.
