In just three seasons, Peter Do has become one of the most watched names in New York fashion – and for good reason. Do’s collections have given a jolt to New York with a distinct aesthetic that channels the urban energy of the city with clothes that demonstrate confidence and skill.
The designer leaned in this vibe at Tuesday’s terrific show, held on a high floor in the FiDi. The music was thumping, the cast of models was great, and the clothes speak to a new generation of American fashion that is forming.
Do played with silhouette and proportion- a chic oversized white shirt tucked into a transparent, floor length pleated skirt cut out across the front , for example. He gave his jackets a bare back and sliced his trousers in what could become a signature look for the designer.
Do expanded his repertory by adding men’s to women’s. Together, there was a sense of fluidity between the two. Think chic urban warriors.
