Paloma Ford Talks New Music, Fashion, and the Tribeca Film Festival

June 10, 2022

Nicky Campbell

Paloma Ford is back in the spotlight after a hiatus. The artist has been a name on everyone’s lips since she emerged onto the scene with hits like “Mènage à Trois” and “Hit Of You.” Ford, who has collaborated with Meek Mill and Rick Ross among others, has remained relatively quiet since the 2020 release of heEX Tapes. This week, she made a grand return to the stage with a new single “Bentley Truck.”

In honor of Tribeca Film Festival’s first ever Music Lounge, Ford made her reappearance at the UnitedMasters Showcase to perform her latest work. Ford’s fans will be in for a treat, with new work that showcases a whole new side to the artist. Ahead of her performance, we got ready with the artist and fashionista to hear more about her look and her upcoming music plans.

How does it feel to be back in person performing for audiences IRL?

There are so many emotions, excitement, anxiousness, nervousness, but I truly feel grateful and ready for the moment. Being able to connect with my fans and the audience in person, after so long – is a feeling that’s hard to describe.

Tell us about your look for tonight! What inspired it and why did you choose No Sesso?

I’m wearing a maroon No Sesso runway piece. I love the material – it’s so light and sexy. It’s feminine and gives me room to move around and do my thing!

How would you describe your style, and what role does it play in your work as an artist?

Outside of music, fashion is one of my biggest passions. I consider myself a student of fashion history and love studying and pulling inspiration from different eras. I’ve been really inspired by the Y2K era and the ‘90s so those themes heavily influenced this project’s styling.

Tell us about your new single, Bentley Truck? What inspired this song?

Bentley Truck is about luxury and feeling yourself. People are used to my heartbreak songs but I wanted to show the other side of that, which is my growth and healing. Bentley Truck is that moment when you remember who YOU are and regaining your confidence.

What can the fans expect from you next? Is a new album in the works?

The fans have a lot to look forward to, I have a really special feature coming at the end of the summer, live experiences for you guys, and I’m happy to announce X Tapes part 2 is in the works!
