Each year, the Dominican community organizes Dominican Pride Week, and this year, Raul Lopez made a stylish splash with a float that paraded through the Grand Concourse during last Sunday’s Bronx Dominican Day Parade.
His float read “Luar Pa’ La Cultura” – “Luar For the Culture” – which made its way through the streets of the Bronx, flooded with red, white and blue flags and thousands of proud Dominicans waving them. Lopez marched and danced alongside family and friends of the brand like Tokischa, La Mas Doll, and Dascha Polanco.
The CFDA member and NYC native is known for centering his community, the immigrant experience, and streetwear as a motif for his brand; and joining the parade was a literal way of celebrating that.
Staying true to his ethos, Lopez posted a link to the after-party on Instagram so paradegoers could end the day dancing to their favorite Caribbean beats. The party went on until 2 in the morning and featured well-known Latinx D.J.s, as well as a surprise performance by Tokischa and La Mas Doll, who gave attendees an exclusive preview of their new song.
