Overcoat Spring-Summer 2021

While Ryuhei Oomaru keeps practicality top of mind, the designer’s new collection of loose-fitting suits, silk button downs, and wide leg trousers manages the make everyday items feel new by subverting silhouettes.

A master of manipulating the patternmaking process, the designer developed numerous ways of reworking garments to allow these to drape all body types.

Standouts include his reworked dolman sleeve with a seamless pattern that connects the front, back, and sleeve of the garment via a central zipper for a casual look. And the ‘Cape Shoulder,’ a pattern that consists of one continuous rectangular piece when wrapped around the shoulder, is rendered as a “roomy cape-like drape. ”

The designer continued his work with Peter Miles Studio to bring his collection of “anti-digital” prints in bold colors to life. The collection will fit in seamlessly into wardrobes as we transition to a new lifestyle.
