In addition to co-starring on the TLC network’s Nate & Jeremiah By Design, Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent are both established interior designers in their own right. The pair, which tied the knot in 2014 with a dream wedding at the New York Public Library, always look effortlessly dashing. We caught up with the two to discuss personal style, fashion and their favorite designers.

Personal Style

Nate: I tend to buy a few new things per year, but I air on the side of classic, and my favorite things in my closet I’ve had for 10 years or more.

Jeremiah: I’m typically in all black. I’m all about texture. I like comfort and I like to play with different silhouettes. I’m eclectic, but today I feel preppy.

American Fashion Favorite

Jeremiah: Thom Browne all day long. Rick Owens – he’s considered an American designer, right? Marc Jacobs obviously. And then I would say Coach.

Nate: For sure Ralph Lauren. I feel like I grew up with Ralph Lauren, from having his bedding in my dorm room in college to markers of personal style and success – like buying my first alligator belt. I really like his work. I like Marc Jacobs, Todd Snyder and Michael Bastian. I think it’s interesting what Coach is doing right now, and I like Irene Neuwirth.

Why I Love Fashion

Nate: Because I work in interior design, I’ve spent the last 20 years creating environments around people’s personal style. I like how fashion, jewelry and accessories allow people to express their personal style with less of a commitment than decorating.

Jeremiah: I love anything that offers people the opportunity to express themselves in the truest form. And that’s really what fashion is. It’s what interior design is. It’s the opportunity to not only create a space that is a representation of who you are, but who you want to be. I think that fashion has the same place. I started my career in fashion, so it’s a fun full circle moment for me.
