NYFW Talent Watch: Cucculelli Shaheen

February 8, 2023

Nicky Campbell

Anthony Cucculelli and Anna Shaheen have been working together ever since meeting in Diane von Furstenberg’s design studio. The NYC-based designers started their company in 2016 with a line of intricate, elevated and ultra-feminine silhouettes that draw inspiration from art, music, mythology, and more. Before the duo’s New York Fashion Week show, we got a preview of what to expect.

How would you describe your label?

CUCCULELLI SHAHEEN is defined by its synthesis of lush embroidery and effortless silhouette. Inspiration is drawn from classical art, music, mythology, and New York City. The push/pull of feminine and masculine viewpoints always influences our collections, and that is a key part of our design process as a duo. We believe craftsmanship, intimacy, and self-expression are the true essences of luxury.

What does it mean to you to be on the Official NYFW Schedule this season?

It is a huge milestone for us. We have been dreaming of this moment since we first started in fashion!

Can you describe your collection inspiration? What should we expect?

We are always inspired as always by our current obsessions. This season, they are Christopher Bucklow, Caravaggio, nourish beauty, beautiful dynamite, atomic poetry, and the passage of the sun in the sky from night into day.. and, our perennial muse, New York City.
