More than 230,000 people attend shows as part of the city’s two (women’s) Fashion Weeks. The economic benefit surpasses events such as the New York City Marathon (about $340 million), the 2014 Super Bowl in New Jersey (about $500 million) and the U.S. Open (more than $700 million in over two weeks).
The fashion industry employs over 180,000 people in New York City, including 16,000 manufacturing jobs, paying approximately $11 billion in wages, and generating almost $2 billion in tax revenue each year.
