The first day of New York Fashion Week: Men’s set a distinct tone that with collections that were either tough or playful, and sometimes both at once.
The men’s shows got off to a strong start with Bode, where Emily Adams Bode amped up her tailoring for several party-ready looks. Todd Snyder added chic currency to classic menswear, while David Hart explored, with tongue-in-cheek, an American-Artist-in-Paris replete with berets and splatter-paint effects. By contrast, Willy Chavarria’s ultra-cool exaggerated silhouettes and leather looks exuded, whether intended or not, an aggressive Mean Streets vibe, while C2H4 took on a more utilitarian approach. Ovadia & Sons played to the rebellious punk within us all, and Sanchez-Kane explored fetishism with a lineup that was provocative and powerful.
