Norma Kamali’s Vintage Treasures
October 11, 2016

In the mid-1990s, Norma Kamali emptied out several warehouses, and sold off sample collections that she had been storing in them for years.
More recently, while cleaning for an upcoming move, the CFDA Board Member discovered that she had missed one such storage space—and stumbled across a treasure trove of pieces that document her iconic career. “This space was thought to be accounting files,” she recalled. Instead, she 1930s pieces she had collected through the years and costume jewelry from the turn of the century to the 1960s.
“The collections are available to stylists, designers and vintage collectors for inspiration and fun,” she said. “We are presenting the collection online through a series of vintage events.”
These pop-up events are scheduled for October 12, October 25, November 8, November 15, November 29, and December 13. Check out NormaKamali.com for more information.
“I love passing on the vintage styles,” Kamali said. “They tell about the history and the social energy of the time through clothing.”
