NIHL Spring-Summer 2021 Look 1

Hedonism, indulgence, sexual intensity and the luxury of sin. The point of reference for NIHL this season was Cerberus, a fictional creature of Greek and Western mythology that inhabits the body of a three-headed dog which guards the gates of hell. Each head represents a different facet of the human persona and identity, and for designer Neil Grotzinger, this collection was a triage of the past, present, and future.

His signature and meticulous beadwork adorned familiar and signature silhouettes with emblematic NIHL colors cobalt blue and crimson. New accessories were introduced: handbags, crystallized bras, and necklaces embellished with jewels and gems with dangling pendants to complement lace and chiffon dresses, bedazzled hosiery, miniskirts and fur-trimmed camisoles.

Within different stages of the collection, different eras can be seen slightly shifting and nudging towards a more specific future, yet the message remains the same: to dissect each era, and propose that it inspire a new genre.

NIHL’s gender fluid reality provided a glimpse of a new future.
