Who doesn’t love a good collaboration between CFDA members? Take Morgenthal Frederics, which exclusively collaborated with Monse and Oscar de la Renta, bringing together three members:  Jeff Press of the iconic eyewear brand with Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia of Oscar de la Renta and Monse.

I met Laura and Fernando through Alex Bolen, the CEO of Oscar de la Renta,” Press recalled. “Alex and Tim Mayhew, our CEO, have known each other for quite a while, and they felt that we would hit it off. They were right!”

Indeed, working with the two designers was a great experience for Press. “They are so focused and able to craft stories with elegance, and precision,” he explained. “I love how they work together, each with a unique perspective yes seamlessly collaborative. I have found it really energizing to bring those perspectives into my own thinking and design ideas.”

The Oscar de la Renta debut was inspired by style icon Audrey Hepburn and her understated elegance – think buffalo horn designs in a vintage inspired, low-temple round frame or a bold, heavy gauge cat-eye frame, appropriately named Holly as in Holly Golightly, one of Hepburn’s most iconic roles.

Priced at $2,495 each, the limited edition Oscar de la Renta x Morgenthal Frederics frames will launch at Morgenthal Frederics and Oscar de la Renta boutiques this February.

The Monse designs, meanwhile, channel a distinct Seventies Blame it on the Boogie vibe. Among the frames is a soft round aviator in smoked crystal colors with light wash lenses, and titanium single-bridge version of the look that’s available in rose gold, gold or glossy black.

The Monse frames, from $475 to $495, will available this February at Morgenthal Frederics and exclusive retailers across the U.S.

Kim and Garcia couldn’t be more thrilled with the fruits of their collaboration. “We were blown away by their (Morgenthal Frederics) craftsmanship when we first met,” the duo said jointly via email. “Also, we were so impressed with and fell in love with the team, their love for our brands and overall excitement to collaborate!”
