Inspiration struck Mimi So during the pandemic in the basement of her childhood home. Once social distancing allowed her to see her father in person again, she started sorting through 40-plus years of family history—she’s a first-generation New Yorker and child of Chinese immigrants.

She came across her own mementos, rediscovering her old school supplies and countless past works of art on watercolor, acrylic on canvas and the past projects assigned to her during her time as a student at Parsons School of Design. It sparked a newfound appreciation for where she’s come from to look toward where she’s going.

“At Parsons, I honed my artistic eye, developed my critical skills and a way of tackling creative obstacles that set me up for my work today as a jewelry designer,” said the CFDA member.

And so, her newest fine jewelry collection “Parsons” was born, named after her alma mater. The first series titled “Paint Your Dream” is a call to embrace one’s creativity and celebrate the artist within.
