Milano Unica and the CFDA’s The Fabric Program will feature Siki Im and Jonathan Meizler of Title of Work as the participating menswear and accessory designers in 2017.
The announcement of the 2017 designers was made during a Milano Unica event at Spring Studios on Wednesday
The program, now in its second seasons, connects American designers with Italian mills to learn ‘Made in Italy’ production techniques and create unique textiles for their collections.
“After the successful launch of our partnership with Milano Unica in 2015, the CFDA is excited to continue to provide three American designers with the opportunity to connect and develop fabrics with some of Italy’s finest mills,” said Steven Kolb, President and CEO of the CFDA. “The access to these fabrics has been a valuable asset to the designers’ ability to produce collections and build their businesses.”
The event attracted several designers, among them Maria Cornejo, Misha Nonoo, Cadet’s Raul Arevalo and Brad Schmidt, Luis Fernandez, Donrad Duncan, and Sylvie Millstein. Also on hand were Gigi Burris and Alex, Matthew and Samantha Orley, who were part of the inaugural edition of the program.
“This is real international and cultural cooperation and to have welcomed Siki Im and Title of Work into our program represents the value of ‘Made in Italy’ quality,” said Botto Poala, President of Milano Unica. “Milano Unica awaits them at the Maison of Textiles and Accessories on September 6th – 8th, 2016.”
