The ninth season of CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund’s Americans in Paris, proudly underwritten by Tumi, is just weeks away. Today, the CFDA and Vogue announced the eight participating designers who will cross the pond with their Spring/Summer 2016 collections. The showroom is open to retailers, buyers and editors from Oct. 3 to 5 at Le 8 Vavois. In addition to showroom space, Americans in Paris provides sales, marketing and media support to help the designers expand their businesses globally.

Americans in Paris continues to put forward CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund designers who represent a level of talent that can compete in today’s global market,” said Steven Kolb, President and CEO of the CFDA.

“We’re proud to be continuing our support of Americans in Paris for the fourth season,” said Michael Petry, Creative Director of TUMI. “This being my first season with the program, I have tremendous admiration for this talented group of designers and I am eager to see how the brand can further extend our partnership with each in the future. These designers are Global Citizens and we’re honored to be perfecting their journeys.”

The Paris-bound designers are:

Edie Parker

Brett Heyman launched Edie Parker, her brand of clutches and handbags, in 2010. Inspired by acrylic bags made in America in the 1950s and 1960s, she started collecting vintage purses and researching their long lost designers and original fabrication techniques. When she no longer found the clutches she coveted, the former Director of Public Relations for Gucci decided to remake them for a new generation. The handcrafted, U.S.-made Edie Parker bespoke collection launched in May 2012. The line has since evolved to include new silhouettes, shoulder straps, and a variety of materials. In addition to acrylic, the bags are now made in 18k gold-plated metal, exotic skins, embroidery, leather and velvet.

Eva Fehren

The Eva Fehren fine jewelry collection was created by New York designer Eva Zuckerman and her business partner Ann Gorga. Formally trained in fine arts at The Cooper Union, Zuckerman draws from the industrial, architectural and geometric elements of her native New York: icons such as the Chrysler Building; the crisscrossing of power lines, and patterns in the cracked sidewalks of the West Village where she was raised. Created with 18k gold and platinum paired with precious materials like custom-cut geometric white diamonds, gray diamonds and opaque sapphires, each piece of Eva Fehren jewelry is hand-crafted by jewelers in New York City.

Gigi Burris

Gigi Burris Millinery was created out of the namesake designer’s admiration for a craft that is slowly disappearing. Recognizing that there is only a small community of milliners left to preserve the art form for future generations, Burris started a luxury brand in the category with a modern voice. Her feminine yet subversive aesthetic is rendered in the finest materials with couture sewing techniques. While attending Parsons School of Design, Burris studied the art of millinery in addition to ready-to-wear. Her ongoing interest in millinery was heightened while abroad in Paris, where she frequented old world mercerie shops and explored European couture techniques. The brand is available at Boon the Shop, Colette, Kirna Zabête, Matches and Neiman Marcus among other top global boutiques. The designer was a finalist of the 2014 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and was listed as one of Forbes’ 30 under 30 Style influencers in 2013. Burris resides in New York and her studio is located in downtown Manhattan.

Grey Ant

Grey Ant, owned by Grant Krajecki and Natalie Levy, was founded in 2007 in New York. The sunglass division branched out of Grey Ant’s prior ready-to-wear collection and established itself by redirecting the entire course of the company. After their metamorphosis within the inaugural CFDA {Fashion Incubator} in 2010, the designers were finalists of the 2014 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. As an independent company, Grey Ant is in a position to design and produce a product using their creative instinct and motivation without censorship. This innovative freedom, combined with the brand’s approach where quality and individuality are paramount, has secured them a loyal following of eyewear enthusiasts. Their aim is to initiate new shapes and new classics into eyewear with a fresh approachability. By being hand-made in Italy and Japan and produced in limited quantities, the brand maintains a high level of exclusivity.

Ryan Roche

Ryan Roche lives and works in a 17th century stone house in upstate New York with her husband, her three children, their cat and four dogs. The designer is continually inspired by her dreamy, vibrant childhood beneath the wild blue and pink Idaho skies. At the core of each collection are her cashmere knits, nostalgic yet modern reinvention of classic silhouettes. She is also committed to supporting responsible manufacturing via sustainable, low-impact production, and has worked with a women’s cooperative in Nepal for the last decade and also supports American manufacturing. Roche was a runner-up of the 2014 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and shortlisted for the 2015 LVMH Prize. She was also nominated for the 2015 CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear and received a distinguished alumni award from The Academy of Art University this year. Simon Miller

Simon Miller draws inspiration from the natural ease of Los Angeles and the minimalist landscapes of the American West with collections that are timeless, crafted, and lived-in. Jake Sargent and Daniel Corrigan took over the creative direction in 2011. Born in Seattle and raised in Santa Barbara, Corrigan’s background bridges denim manufacturing, merchandising, and graphic design. Sargent, a San Francisco native, previously oversaw the retail and product collaboration arm of Monocle magazine. The collection has grown to a full line of men’s and women’s ready to wear. It is developed between the brand’s New York showroom and Los Angeles denim studio. The designers were finalists of the 2014 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. Simon Miller is available at Barneys New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Mr Porter, Matches Fashion, Holt Renfrew and select specialty stores including United Arrows in Japan and Antonia in Milan.

Tanya Taylor

Raised in Toronto, Tanya Taylor grew up surrounded by three generations of ambitious women whose creative approach to fashion inspired her. After studying finance at McGill University, Taylor enrolled in a summer fashion course at Central Saint Martins followed by the AAS Fashion Studies program at Parsons School of Design. With three years as Associate Designer at Elizabeth and James under her belt, she launched the Tanya Taylor label in 2012. Designed in New York City, the collection is an optimistic expression of feminine shapes enhanced with tactile uses of color and print. Taylor, a finalist of the 2014 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, personally paints each season’s prints and aims to create a dialogue that is approachable and artful through her work. The collection is available at retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, and Lane Crawford.
