Meet Ralph Lauren, the Author

September 22, 2016

Emily Schultze

Ralph Lauren famously started his iconic fashion career with a tie. Since then, he has given the fashion world a cinematic take on clothes that’s always elegant and undeniably Ralph.

With the 50th anniversary of his company approaching, Lauren has agreed to open up about his life and career with an in-depth memoir published by Simon & Schuster, set to hit shelves next fall.

His book is expected to illustrate how he went from a boy born in the Bronx to one of the most universally recognizable lifestyle brands. Or, as publisher of Simon & Schuster Jonathan Karp puts it: “How Ralph Lauren’s business became the epitome of American style is one of the great cultural stories of our time.”

Lauren’s contributions to American fashion have been immense. The CFDA Board Member is a top fashion influencer, icon, and philanthropist, and the CFDA has honored him with many awards, including Womenswear Designer of the Year, Menswear Designer of the Year, Retailer of the Year, the American Fashion Legend Award, the Humanitarian Leadership Award, and CFDA’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Could a Pulitzer be next?
