Sustainability is a core tenet of Marist College, and for Earth Day 2022, the fashion program’s capstone seniors have developed an exhibition and fashion conference in celebration and in an effort to promote awareness.
The sustainable fashion gallery exhibition, titled “Ethereal,” will launch with an opening event on Thursday, April 21 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Steel Plant Gallery. The show highlights sustainable fashion from designers including CFDA members Gabriela Hearst, Mara Hoffman, Phillip Lim, Patrick Cupid, and more. The show will also feature alumni and local Hudson Valley designers, and will remain open through the Fall semester in an effort to “bring light to sustainability in the fashion industry by displaying innovative and timeless sustainable pieces from eco-minded designers.”
On Friday, April 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the Sustainable and Innovation Fashion Conference will take place at the Nelly Goletti Theater featuring executives from CFDA member brands Ralph Lauren and Eileen Fisher, as well as many other industry changemakers. Topics including textiles and innovation, environment and consumerism, and luxury business and sustainability will be discussed, followed by a closing networking event for attendees.
