Frieze New York returns to The Shed from May 17-21 — and this season, there’s a fashionable touch courtesy of CFDA’s newly-minted Interim Member Marie Laffont. In the lead-up to the art fair, Laffont teamed up with Marc-Aurèle Debut for a celebratory limited collaboration of shoe designs using materials inspired by the London artist’s past works.

Laffont, a Paris native, studied at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne and L’École Duperré, and worked as a shoe designer with Sonia Rykiel, Christian Louboutin, and Zac Posen before launching her namesake brand.

The three special shoe styles with Debut are presented as art works –  these are not commercial pieces and won’t be produced. They were unveiled during an event at New York’s Palo Gallery on May 9^th. The cocktail attracted a mix of art and fashion types, including CFDA member Alejandra Alonso Rojas, fashion editor Michael Philouze, and artist Snuffy.
