It’s a valid question for CFDA board member Maria Cornejo to ask herself upon looking back at a celebrated career of design excellence, commitment to sustainability and New York City manufacturing, and the creative community she’s built around her brand.
To mark the special quarter century occasion of her brand Zero + Maria Cornejo (ZMC), Back to Zero, the collaborative book between her and Mark Borthwick, captures the energy of the times and photographs creatives of all ages in re-editions of ZMC archive pieces in a special chronicle published by Dashwood Books.
Shot over two days, creatives and friends across cultures of fashion and arts including Chloë Sevigny, Nicole Phelps, Francesca Sorrenti, Sunrise Ruffalo, Ilya Chaiken, Zora Sicher, Hanna Frolova, Madjeen Isaac and Brooke Williams make appearances in the 136 pages of this project.
“We really wanted to convey a sense of joy and creativity that after three years of the pandemic were so badly needed,” Cornejo said. “I’m so thankful for everyone who took part and generously gave their time to this celebration.”
