December 6, 2017

The Council of Fashion Designers of America and Premiere Vision are pleased to announce CFDA member Maria Cornejo as the brand ambassador for Premiere Vision New York, which takes  place January 16-17, 2018.

The selection of Cornejo, who celebrates the 20th year of Zero + Maria Cornejo in 2018, was made as part of CFDA’s partnership with PV. She was chosen for being a leading fashion voice who continually drives new perspectives for the industry. From her commitment to the local economy with a majority of her collections produced within New York’s Garment District to her dedication to a responsible, innovative and sustainable design approach, Cornejo embodies the values of the CFDA and PV.

As a part of the ambassadorship, Cornejo will debut an exclusive collection at PV in New York next month. The sample collection showcase will include the 2017 Fashion Smart Creation Prize-winning fabric from this year’s PV Awards, which is a completely sustainable double-face fabric with a smooth, color-contrasting back in ECONYL® yarn by Swiss textile manufacturer Schoeller Textil. Cornejo handpicked this material during her trip to PV Paris in September.

Local garment manufacturer David Wolfson and Associates will produce the entire sample collection for the showcase. David Wolfson is a full-service sample and production company and was an FMI grant awardee during the 2015-16 program.

“I’m honored to be the PV Ambassador and, alongside the CFDA and Premiere Vision, push the future of responsible fashion forward,” Cornejo said. “As part of our collective mission to draw attention to the areas of sustainability, innovation and local manufacturing in the industry, I look forward to showcasing our special capsule collection to demonstrate that sustainability doesn’t have to be boring, that it can be forward thinking and exciting for the consumer.”

In addition to the Zero showcase, CFDA will be operating the FMI Showcase for the third time featuring more than a half dozen New York garment manufacturers at PV. The showcase was designed as a business development opportunity for the manufacturers to connect with designers attending PV in New York.
