Marc Jacobs Brings Grunge Uptown with a Bang

December 4, 2018

Nicky Campbell

The grand space at 655 Madison Avenue got an infusion of grunge courtesy of Marc Jacobs, who is taking up residency in the space for the next six months with a special pop-up shop dedicated to his Redux Grunge collection. Front and center at the three-story retail location once home to DKNY were pieces from the collection, displayed on an army of mannequins as you walk through the glass doors.

To celebrate the clothes and uptown move, Jacobs hosted an exclusive in-store event on Monday night with Sofia Coppola and Katie Grand, friends and longtime collaborators of the designer.

Merch was moved aside for the crowd of fashion forces and celebs. They included Anna Sui, Karen Elson, Tabitha Simmons, Carine Roitfeld, Miss Fame, Sandra Bernhard, Remington Williams, Ella Richards, Serena Tea, West Dakota, Andrea Pejic, Stella Maxwell, and Bethann Hardison.

Kim Gordon, of Sonic Youth fame, gave a special performance that added a layer of authenticity to the night’s Nineties grunge vibe.

The standout moment: supermodels Gigi Hadid and Kaia Gerber in matching striped suits – each styled with their own personal touch.

Complete with a Bookmarc shop, Marc Beauty products, and The Smile Café, this store is the perfect location to experience the world of Marc Jacobs that fans of the brand have been waiting.
