Keith Haring’s visual language – a mélange of graffiti and pop straight from the streets of 1980s Gotham – is legendary and continues to inspire many of us to this day, among them Stacey Bendet of Alice + Olivia. Her latest capsule is informed by the genius that was Haring with a series of joyful pieces featuring the late artist’s iconic dancing figures and patchwork prints.
Bendet is no stranger to the arts. She is an art enthusiast and collector, and past fashion collaborations were with Domingo Zapata, the estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Donald Robertson.
The impetus came while Bendet was designing resort 2019 with pops of canary, cherry and cobalt, reminded her of Haring’s work, which led to the Keith Haring x alice + olivia capsule.

“I have always been a fan of Keith Haring’s work—the colors and graphics,” Bendet said. “He was also one of the first artists to advance social causes and I think at this time in our world it’s especially important to support artists who have made a difference.”
The collection features Haring’s trademark dancing figures on a leather jacket, a reversible bomber, a cardigan, T-Shirts, ball gown skirts, a clutch and bootie. There is also a patchwork print on a denim jacket and skirt, and jeans. Priced from $195 to $1,295, it’s available at alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet retail stores, including aliceandolivia.com, and at select retailers.
The capsule comes with an exciting digital project. Haring famously believed that art is for everybody. In fact, the artist, who died of AIDS at the age of 31 in 1990, first made his name with white chalk over the black paper to cover vacant advertising panels on subways.
To that end, from now through Nov 16, every post shared on Instagram with the hashtags #artisforeverybody #keithharingxAO and the tags @aliceandolivia and @CFDA will benefit the CFDA Foundation. For each post, Alice + olivia will donate $1 to us (up to $25,000) to it. The nature of these posts could be wide-ranging, from photos of one’s own art or art collection to videos of someone painting or playing an instrument. We of course also love all the images from the Keith Haring x alice + olivia campaign starring Barron and Tessa Hilton.
