M∙A∙C Cosmetics is a pioneer in beauty collaborations, having created iconic ones with the likes of Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Zac Posen, to name just a few. Its latest capsule-in-the-making will be looking to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund: M∙A∙C has partnered with CVFF to offer one womenswear alumni the chance to create a capsule color collection as part of a challenge.
Juan Carlos Obando, Tome, Cushnie Et Ochs, Tanya Taylor and Chromat — all finalists from pasts funds — were chosen to create a concept for a six-piece makeup collection that translates their runway aesthetic to the world of beauty. Judged by a panel of expected, the one winner will receive a $50,000 prize and have their concept produced for retail in late 2017.
The designers of the five brands—Juan Carlos Obando, Ramon Martin and Ryan Lobo, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs, Tanya Taylor, and Becca McCharen – gathered for the first time at the M∙A∙C Pro Showroom in New York last week for a beauty school crash course. Vogue.com was at the meeting, and got the designers to muse, among other things, on the three words that describe their future M∙A∙C collection. For the full Vogue.com article, please click here .
