Consider this a match made in accessory heaven! Stirling Barrett of Krewe and Pamela Love teamed up as the latest designer duo to take over the CFDA shop-in-shop at Forum store in Los Angeles — a new innovative fashion and lifestyle retail concept store focused on building community and meaningful engagement. In addition to being CFDA members, both Barrett and Love are past runners-up  of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, and to celebrate the shop, we asked each about the state of retail, their recent endeavor, and more.

How do you feel about the state of retail?

Pamela Love: The retail industry is tremendously growing, whether it’s in store or online. Consumers today have so many options to purchase goods. Every day, the retail industry is transforming driven by new technology, evolving consumer behavior and bold new innovators. It’s currently an exciting time for retail— as the industry is growing, industry leaders and analysts are asking complex questions about the way to measure success because the digital and physical worlds still connect within the modern retail business. The opportunity for brand exposure across different retail outlets is endless today in the retail world.

Stirling Barrett: We don’t actually use the term retail at KREWE, we use the term “in-person.” While people think retail is dying, we think in-person is thriving. As the hours of digital interaction grow, people are craving a real, tangible, thoughtful interaction.

Why do you want to be a part of the Forum shop?

Pamela: Forum offers Pamela Love the opportunity to tell its story and create their own brand experiences and engage with consumers targeted for the brand.

Stirling: We love and stand behind the CFDA — what they’re doing for the industry and up-and-coming designers. It’s as a great opportunity to come to Los Angeles, as well. We’ve had a great digital presence there, so it was a perfect fit.

What was [Krewe/Pamela Love] the right partner for you to share the store with?

Pamela: Both Krewe and Pamela Love embrace creative design and are inspired by the endless diversity of life all around us. They produce the same creative energy and lively spirit into every piece of good allowing individuals to express themselves.

Stirling: We make a good pair as two accessory brands that pride ourselves on quality with a product that can embody our customer. Jewelry and eyewear are subjective and personal to people, we both have the ability and opportunity to become an everyday, timeless wear.
