Kobi Halperin approaches his namesake brand’s first decade, and with such milestone in mind, the designer is expanding his collection to serve more of his customer’s lifestyle needs. Timed to the resort 2024 season, Halperin just introduced a beachwear collection features swimwear and coverups, now available at Saks.
The collection, he said, “speaks deeply to the brand ethos by embodying a lifestyle of chic elegance and versatility. My aim was to take care of our customers comprehensively, extending beyond traditional fashion boundaries. Beachwear is a natural progression, reflecting my lifelong passion and inspiration from a childhood spent by the beach in Israel, where caftans and bathing suits were emblematic of a chic, carefree lifestyle. The collection is a tribute to those formative years and the stylish allure of beachside fashion.”
The first pieces are indeed inspired by the CFDA member’s summer experiences with family and friends in the Mediterranean, including the South of France and Italy.
“It’s the time of year I look forward to the most,” Halperin said. “Being able to observe the elegance and power of women, effortlessly chic in their resort wear amidst beautiful seaside locales, heavily influenced the collection. This vision of resort wear seamlessly blending into city life underscores my belief that there is an appropriate and stylish way to dress for both settings.”
Halperin was also inspired by a recent trip to Asia, especially a visit to Hong Kong’s Palace Museum, and “the intricate details and artistry of the Forbidden City’s interior, with its prints, jades, and porcelains” which influenced the collection’s designs.
It’s taken him nearly 10 years to launch these pieces which are a natural extension for the designer. In some ways, the timing is a response to the current global climate, he said, “where escapism and fantasy are more valuable than ever. In a world filled with distressing news, resort wear offers a positive, dreamy respite that allows people to indulge in beautiful fantasies. I felt particularly empowered and wanted to create something that fosters a sense of joy and hope.”
