While many designers evoked a sense of escapism in their work this season, Cate Holstein is leaning into the paradoxical nature of the present.
With haunting short film, Holstein perfectly captured the essence of the human experience of the last few months. The designer showcased her collection through a twisted fantasy, shot through shifted perspectives, distorted angles, and dark shadows that added a dark undertone to her feminine silhouettes.
The designer enlisted the help of supermodels Irina Shayk, Abby Champion, and Alek Wek to bring her vision to life. The brand’s signature ruched dresses, knit cashmeres, and voluminous tops are as lustworthy as always, though the current climate brings a whole new perspective to her work.
