For fall, Daniella Kallmeyer looked to vintage ski style photos, especially the “utility and composition” in them, for inspiration. “In manipulating stretch materials to highlight the elegance in curvature and muscles of a strong body, we create a celebration of feminine power, liberation, and excellence,” the designer said in the show notes.

The result: a sophisticated collection with Kallmeyer demonstrating her strong hand for color, form, and layering – all of which she showed at the “Café Kallmeyer” she created at La Mercerie at Roman and Williams Guild, one of the most beautiful spaces in New York. The models chicly meandered through the space as guests sipped on hot chocolate or apple cider and were prompted by models to partake in card tricks or backgammon games. It felt very apres ski, which is just how Kallmeyer intended it. “This collection brought a kind of nostalgia for family trips to the slopes, meeting in the lodge to peel layers upon layers off, to drink homemade hot cocoa and eat loaves of peanut butter jelly sandwiches while we played games by the fire,” she said. Great clothes in a cozy, chalet atmosphere – who could ask for more than this NYFW highlight.
