All eyes were on President Joe Biden’s first official State of the Union Address last night, as he spoke at a time of war in Europe and the continued global pandemic. Standing by his side was FLOTUS Dr. Jill Biden – in a purple dress from the LAPOINTE brand designed by CFDA member Sally Lapointe. The double-face satin bias dress was from the designer’s Pre-Fall 2022 collection and was a testament to the First Lady’s commitment to supporting American designers.

The look also featured an embroidered sunflower as a tribute to the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine. It is the country’s national flower, and a symbol of the Ukrainian resistance.

“As an American designer and as an American woman, it was a huge honor to have dressed Dr. Jill Biden for the State of The Union Address last night,” Lapointe said.
