The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) is proud to announce that Jerry Lorenzo, founder of American luxury fashion house Fear of God, is the recipient of the fourth annual Innovation Award presented by Amazon Fashion.
The Amazon Fashion Innovation Award honors a visionary driving innovation in product, branding, and storytelling, redefining how consumers connect with luxury fashion brands today.
Since its launch in Los Angeles in 2013, Lorenzo’s Fear of God has redefined American luxury by combining its meticulous aesthetic sensibility and exacting craftsmanship with an authentic connection to culture. From Fear of God collection to Fear of God Essentials and Fear of God Athletics, the house has established a modern lifestyle perspective in a stylistic signature that spans from refined tailoring and sophisticated essentials to athleticwear; an approach made visible by its appearance across global luxury spaces and modern retail destinations as well as on the sporting field.
“Since starting Fear of God, Jerry Lorenzo has upended traditional ways of brand building through his innovative approach, addressing fashion and sports while building a community with cultural resonance,” Steven Kolb, chief executive officer and president of the CFDA said. “The CFDA congratulates Jerry and Fear of God for this year’s Innovation Award presented by Amazon Fashion.”
Jenny Freshwater, vice president of Amazon Fashion, added, “Amazon Fashion is thrilled to honor Jerry Lorenzo and the impact he has had on American luxury fashion. Fear of God has infused culture, sports, and today’s modern lifestyle into the luxury industry in new and exciting ways, creating versatile collections that inspire a new generation.”
“I am humbled to receive the CFDA Innovation Award,” Jerry Lorenzo said. “At Fear of God, innovation is about creating with purpose and intention to support our vision. Thank you to the CFDA for seeing and supporting our journey.”
The CFDA Fashion Awards, presented by Amazon Fashion, will take place on Monday, November 3, at the American Museum of Natural History.
