Jennifer Fisher Moves Into Home with CB2

February 25, 2020

It appears that Jennifer Fisher can do it all. The stylist-turned-jewelry designer is now adding a new title to her resume. Today, the CFDA member makes her first foray into home décor with an exclusive collection for CB2.

Fisher is a working mom of three –daughter Drew, son Shane, and adorable pup Tito – and  the furniture collection was designed with family in mind. The products are both fashion-forward and functional, using performance fabrics and featuring details like rounded corners. Products include everything from chic seating to kitchenware, and with prices ranging from $9.95 to $2,999, there is truly something for everyone.

This is a new category for Fisher, yet the collection feels like a natural extension of her own namesake label. Crafted in sleek, modern silhouettes and rich textures, design elements like table legs to console tables feel reminiscent of her jewelry designs. Ultimately, the collection is filled with everyday homeware pieces that prove to be just as essential as a good pair of hoops.

To celebrate the new collaboration, we caught up with Fisher for the inside scoop on designing the collection and hear some of her favorites pieces.

Congratulations on the new collection! Why did you decide to expand into home?

Ryan Turf, who is the President of CB2, and I were introduced by mutual friends. We went to lunch and ended up hitting it off and having a great conversation. The collaboration grew from that single introduction.

Was this always something you wanted to do?

Honestly, I hadn’t really thought about it until I met Ryan, and CB2 came to me and it made just made sense. Home is and always has been super-important to me. I am a designer and was a stylist for 10 years. Having an eye for design is a part of me so when the opportunity presented itself I wanted to take the challenge.

What was your approach to designing this collection? Did the process differ than your approach to jewelry design?

I wanted to create pieces that people didn’t realize they had to have. Pieces that can live seamlessly in your existing design, existing colors, existing style. I wanted it to be similar to the way that I design jewelry. I wanted it to be something that enhances what you already have. It actually was very similar. I designed everything myself, by CAD. I followed a very, very similar process compared to the jewelry design. The more pieces I designed, the more ideas I came up with. The process was really fun and the collection grew quickly.

How does this collection relate to your own accessory line?

The pieces are clean, minimal, multifunctional and timeless. I wanted to incorporate touches of our jewelry aesthetic into the collection. So, for example, I made a marble sconce that emulates our signature, long link chain. I took that theme into the legs of tables, the borders on mirrors. We wanted it to feel that there was a nod to what we do. We wanted it to look and feel connected.

How would you describe this collection?

Timeless, neutral, multi-functional, and fun. We made a black marble ping pong table that has legs that emulate our signature chain link but they’re black matte so it’s not an obvious nod to the chain. We created a dog door because I could never find a dog door that I liked. Or that was chic! I created pieces that are super minimal and clean and will work in any home or even office.

How has your own lifestyle contributed to the collection?

Being a working mom and having a specific, neutral, color pallet in our home already we wanted to focus around the heart of the house. The kitchen and the living space are is where I spend most of my time at home so I wanted these spaces to be the focus for the collection. I love to cook so we made sure we had a lot of kitchen accessories, glasses, plates, serving dishes, trays and platters. All easy objects that work with whatever you have at home already that you can buy and freshen what you have.

Why was CB2 the right partner for your first home wear collection? What was the process like working with their team?

I am a CB2 customer, I always have been. We vibed. There was a synergy between the two. They were so great to work with. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I noticed your signature JF Salt made it into the collection. Why did you decide to include this?

Our three salts are hugely successful and a big part of who we are as a brand (@jenniferfisherkitchen for all my recipes).  When we started the design process, I immediately knew I had to design a product for salt display, especially since salt is the only lifestyle item we currently offer. It was another nice way to connect the two brands. I designed a beautiful marble salt cellar which will be sold with our salt trio at CB2.

Have any of these items made their way into your home?

Yes, almost all of them. That was the point of the collection – I designed what I want to live with! I have replaced a lot of existing furniture I have at my house with the new pieces. It is really exciting to be living with things that I designed. It is completely surreal.

What are some of your favorite pieces?

Bag O’ Cash Doorstop – Who doesn’t want a bag of cash at their door

Invisible Packing Rack – I for one, have always been the girl that has overflow from her closet, and I am sick of looking at industrial clothing racks in my room. I wanted to create something that works for everybody.

Forever Swivel Chair – because it is comfortable and swivels which is important to me.

Statement Coffee table – because I have always wanted a marble coffee table and I was sick of just finding white ones everywhere.

The collection will be available for purchase on CB2.com and in CB2 stores.
