International Fashion Has a Strong Presence during NYFW

February 27, 2019

This New York Fashion Week season was marked by the arrival of some welcome out-of-towners. Coveted Italian fashion brand Palm Angels presented here for the first time, Zadig et Voltaire brought their Parisian aesthetic, while fellow French brand Longchamp returned for the second season. The presence of these international fashion brands brought a fresh perspective to the shows.  See the best looks from each  below!

Palm Angels Fall-Winter 2019

Bright strobe lights blared against the silhouettes of ancient Greek statues erected in glass cases as looks from the Italian label made their way down the runway to the tune of Marilyn Manson. The dramatic set marked the stunning NYFW debut of Palm Angels. The brand best known for signature streetwear silhouettes departed from the celebrity-adored tracksuits. Designer Francesco Ragazzi, who also serves as the Art Director for Moncler, surprised viewers with sharply tailored blazers and outerwear that lost none of their cool when adorned with chains, medals, and utilitarian design elements inspired by the outdoors. By expanding upon the label’s streetwear roots, Ragazzi showed he is ready for world stage.

Zadig & Voltaire Fall-Winter 2019

The Parisian label has a knack for perfectly capturing the essence of cool-girl style. Crisp, oversized white shirts and double-breasted blazers are paired seamlessly with boyfriend style jeans. The Zadig et Voltaire girl – or guy – can naturally wear a tailored two-piece suit with sneakers or distressed combat boots. In addition to signature everyday basics, Zadig et Voltaire presented dressier alternatives, including a sequin floor-length gown and tuxedo jackets. Its sportwear roots came through in a new NBA collaboration, which gave merchandise you might typically find at a concession stand a serious fashion flair.

Longchamp Fall-Winter 2019

Designer Sophie Delfontaine presented a concise 40-piece collection of perfect wardrobe pieces for the ultimate jet-setter. Whimsical, printed flowing silk dresses perfect for a tropical getaway came down the runway along with graphic black-and-white silhouettes suited for a more urban setting. Standout pieces included sharp leather pieces and shearling coats inspired by New York City’s grid, appropriate for the label’s second season in the fashion capital. Presented in the Financial District, the lineup captured the lifestyle of an on-the-go city girl with looks that seamlessly go from day into evening. Kendall Jenner and Kate Moss, who were in the front row, are sure to sport these looks come fall.
