The wildfires that started Sunday evening in California’s Northern region continue to devastate the Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino Lake, and Yuba counties. According to reports, the fires have burned more than 170,000 acres, destroyed over 3,500 structures and left at least 23 people dead – one of California’s deadliest in 14 years. Thousands of residents have been forced to flee from the surrounding areas but there are many more in desperate need of help.
If you wish to contribute to the recovery efforts in California, here’s how:
Airbnb has created the Open Homes program to help those displace by the fires.
The American Red Cross is accepting donations as well as seeking volunteers to help evacuees. You can also call 1-800 RED CROSS or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
GoFundMe has several fundraising campaigns supporting the relief efforts here.
