How CFDA Members are Helping Los Angeles in Crisis

“The people and the City of Los Angeles are in our hearts,” Michael Kors said via Instagram. “Sending hope to the community, the first responders and everyone affected by this tragedy.”

Kors, who sits on the CFDA Board, has made donations to the California Fire Foundation’s Wildfire & Disaster Relief Fund and to the American Red Cross. The designer is not alone in his support for LA during this difficult time.

Many CFDA members have made significant donations to various organizations on the ground.

Willy Chavarria and Kendrick Lamar created a Super Bowl-themed collection with proceeds from the collection of tees, hoodies and jackets will be donated to Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts.

Anna Sui teamed up with Marc Jacobs’ Heavn (and many more fashion friends) to create a custom T-shirt designed by Eri Wakiyama with 100 percent of the proceeds to go to the Habitat LA ReBUILD LA Fund. They are available for purchase on www.marcjacobs.com.

From January 16–26, Stacey Bendet transformed her West Hollywood store at 8501 Melrose Ave. into a pop-up shop to support those in need, offering free clothing and accessories to victims of the recent fires.

Christopher John Rogers launched an online archive sale through Sunday, February 26 with 25 percent of proceeds being donated to assist displaced Black families in Altadena.

Jasmin Larian Hekmat launched the Cult Gaia Foundation created to support women and children in need throughout Los Angeles. And through Monday, January 20th, 10 percent of net sales on any purchases made on Cultgaia.com or in Cult Gaia stores up to $100,000 will go to Birthfund, an organization that advocates and invests in underfunded maternal care and is working to provide direct support and aid to displaced pregnant and postpartum parents.

Jonathan Simkhai is putting together women’s clothing packages that will be available at the Simkhai Beverly Hills store on Jan. 21 from 10:00 a.m. onwards.

The Ralph Lauren Corporate Foundation is making a donation to the American Red Cross and Los Angeles Regional Food Bank to support the Southern California Wildfire Relief Efforts. The Foundation is also double-matching employee donations to  organizations aiding in relief efforts, including the American Red Cross, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, World Central Kitchen, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and California Fire Foundation. Additionally, the company is working with Delivering Good to distribute product within impacted communities.

Los Angeles-based Jenni Kayne and Oak Essentials are working with the LA community to deliver care packages to those impacted by the wildfires. Baby2Baby donations will be accepted at the Brentwood, West Hollywood, Newport Beach and Montecito retail locations.

Tory Burch said the wildfires “have left us deeply shaken. The destruction is simply unimaginable, and we are heartbroken over the loss of lives, homes and businesses.” The company is making a donation to the California Fire Foundation.

Hillary Taymour considers LA her first home, and the Collina Strada designer has been “donating clothing and supporting all clothing drives aimed those impacted. I encourage you to join me in contributing to relief efforts – whether through donations, fostering an animal, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness,” she said.

Clare Vivier launched the Clare V. Los Angeles Je T’aime collection with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross. “Their vital work provides emergency shelters. food, and critical services to those impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires,” Vivier said. “This shirt is a symbol of our deep love for Los Angeles and our unwavering commitment to supporting to supporting our community.”

Nikki Kule’s Kule is donating clothing to the LA Fire Relief Drive and making monetary donations to the LA Fire Department Foundation and Baby2Baby.

Ulla Johnson donated girls’ clothing and a percentage of sales to Baby2Baby along with the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.

On February 3, Sachin & Babi will launch their spring collection and will make a donation of a portion of their sales to Baby2Baby in support of those impacted.

Rebecca Minkoff, who is also co-founder of the Female Founder Collective, has launched a campaign for every donation of $100 or more, donors will receive a limited-edition NY <3 LA tee. 100 percent of the profits from this campaign go directly to the Female Founder Collective Foundation, providing critical grants to LA-based women-owned businesses in urgent need of recovery support.

The Collective’s flagpole event Female Founders Day, an educational summit that was created with the mission to lift up and support woman-owned businesses, are donating 15 percent of their ticket sales to support their LA Wildfires Grant, aiding women-owned businesses with rebuilding and getting access to the resources they need to get back on their feet.

Christian Siriano, who paints when inspired, is selling one of his paintings and tickets to his upcoming fashion show with proceeds going to LA fire relief.

Veronica Beard is giving back to Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s club locations the in Los Angeles area, which have been strong community resources for those impacted by the California wildfires.

And this past weekend, MZ Wallace earmarked 10 percent of sales to donate to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund in support of the communities and first responders impacted by the Southern California wildfires.
