How CFDA Members Are Getting The Message to Vote Out!

September 3, 2020

Nicky Campbell

The 2020 presidential election is fast approaching, and the American fashion industry is mobilizing to make sure their customers are getting the vote out. With Americans across the country still fighting a global pandemic that requires social-distancing regulations, the voting process will look entirely different this year. With vote-by-mail as the best option for citizens looking to exercise their right, its more important than ever to get the word out early in advance.

See how this year’s CFDA Members are using their platforms and mobilizing their customer base in order to help them vote.

Tory Burch

Tory Burch

The iconic American designer announced that she will be offering paid time off to any U.S. employee who volunteers as a poll worker. This November, there will be a vast shortage of essential volunteers who staff polling sites on Election Day – issuing ballots to registered voters, monitoring voting equipment, explaining how to vote, or counting votes. This, coupled with reduced numbers of people allowed inside the polls because of COVID, will result in incredibly long lines and threaten citizens ability to exercise their right to vote. With this, Burch poses a great solution to the problem. For information on how to become a poll worker, go to https://www.eac.gov/help-america-vote or workelections.com.

Michael Kors, ‘Your Voice Matters’ Tee

Michael Kors

The CFDA Member has launched the Your Voice Matters campaign, aimed to encourage voter registration and participation in the upcoming 2020 election. The designer released a special edition t-shirt and sweater, both of which all proceeds will benefit the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. The company partnered with Black-owned business FKSP, operated by African American fashion designer Folake Kuye Huntoon to produce the designs. The product will be for sale on MichaelKors.com, and in select Michael Kors lifestyle stores.

Kenneth Cole

The designer is engaging with an important demographic – students – with his initiative, “Make the Statement,” to help increase voter turnout. The goal is to empower students to create a piece of artwork that sends a powerful message to stop any scrolling thumb in its tracks. The top entries will be selected by Kenneth and appear across his brand’s social channels around key dates in the leadup to the Election Day on November 3rd.
