COVID-19 CRISIS

How Ana Khouri is Joining the Fight on COVID-19

“I’m deeply concerned about the medical community’s lack of vital equipment and supplies during this time,” CFDA member Ana Khouri said. “I felt the urge and duty to help, even if in a humble way, to support the brave men and women on the front lines, fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.”

And so, the jewelry designer, recognizing the devastating impact of COVID-19 on the global healthcare, is backing Doctors Without Borders, an international nonprofit organization that provides medical aid where it’s most needed, including fragile medical systems in vulnerable communities worldwide.

One hundred percent of proceeds of her unique Blue Sapphire Mirian Ring, which she unveiled today, will go to Doctors Without Borders.

“I’m so in awe of the fashion community stepping in to help produce masks, hand sanitizer and gowns (among many other initiatives) to help healthcare workers,” Khouri said. “The best way I can help is through my jewelry. I chose blue sapphires for this piece as blue in many cultures is associated with hope, peace and protection. I hope that my donation will help Doctors Without Borders protect healthcare workers all over the world.”

The donation is much-needed. In recent months, Doctors Without Borders has faced supply shortages, including protective equipment for healthcare workers, which is vital to continue their work as well as respond to the effects of the pandemic itself.
