CFDA members Jason and Julie Alkire of Haus Alkire traveled to Detroit last week as part of Soho House’s Cities With Out Houses program for a fashion breakfast and panel discussion at the new Shinola Hotel.
Jason, who is originally from South Eastern Michigan, was pleased to see how much revitalization has taken place in downtown Detroit.
Attendees were treated to breakfast from Andrew Carmellini’s San Morello restaurant and learned about the origins and brand identity behind Haus Alkire through a Q&A session with Jason and Julie hosted by Rachel Schostak, Fashion Director of the Metro-Detroit Fashion and Lifestyle Magazine, Seen.
Guests were also able to preview and purchase items from the collection. Haus Alkire’s collection, which focuses on draping and tailoring paired with development of the textiles and prints, is produced predominately in NYC.
