Girls Night Out with Lizzie Fortunato

November 11, 2015

New CFDA Member Lizzie Fortunato and her sister Kathryn moved to Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill just over a year ago—and with ample space to entertain, they decided to launch a Creative Girls’ Dinners at their homes.

Late last month, they moved the dinner to Ode to Babel, the Brooklyn lifestyle concept bar and retail space founded by twin sisters Myriam and Marva Babel. With an Aegean meal cooked by Anastasia Koutsioukis of Mandolin Miami, the latest edition of the dinner series brought out some 28 creatives, among them Erin Beatty of Suno, Sara Beltran of Dezso by Sara Beltran, milliner Gigi Burris and Vogue’s Chioma Nnadi. They enjoyed the scene, including the table-settings with ceramics available on Fortune Finds, flowers by Fox Fodder Farm, and Greek wine was provided by Thalia.

“I think that so often it’s assumed that women in fashion can be competitive or insular, but the relationships we’ve made — and support we’ve found — within NYC’s community of creative women has been tremendous, and something we wanted to really celebrate and foster with our series of Creative Girls’ Dinners,” Lizzie Fortunato said. “In our experience, getting people around the dinner table allows guards to be dropped a little and suddenly people are trading business tips, developing friendships, and even planning to collaborate professionally. It’s a really amazing thing to watch and makes me so proud of the women in our field.”

To toast this, there was a cocktail named The Hera, which means Goddess of Women.
