Already sisters and best friends, it only made sense that Kim and Melissa Bentz would go into business together. The co-founders of Bentz Luxury joined forces to build their accessories label, which merges both of their aesthetics. A luxury company that offers a range of handbags, jewelry, and accessories, the dynamic duo has already attracted attention and accolades for their work. To date, they have won the Accessories Council’s Design Excellence Awards 2019 and 2020, were Finalists for the Fashion Group International Rising Star Awards in 2020 and 2021, and took home the IDA Design Awards Bronze in 2020.

We caught up with the new Interim CFDA Members to learn more about their business.

What does it mean to you to be an Interim CFDA Member?  

It’s an honor and privilege to have our brand acknowledged globally by some of the most respected talents in the fashion world.​

What is one thing you are looking for help with in terms of running your business? 

Having introductions with the right decision makers regarding retailers and buyers.

What is one career-defining or ‘pinch me’ moment you’ve had so far? 

We had a chance encounter meeting Steve Wozniak (Co-Founder of Apple) and his wife Janet at a local restaurant. We since have gone on to become close friends and have had the fortune to have him as our mentor. However, the most pinch me moment was when Steve told us, “I think you girls are onto something!” And since then, the Wozniaks have gone on to gift movie stars, singers and even crown princesses some of our award-winning handbags.

How would you describe your label to someone not familiar with the brand? 

We create conscious luxury, hand-crafted products by artisans old and new. Accessories and clothing that are fun, beautiful, and unique. Elegant yet without pretension, doing what is good so the next generation can be better together!
