“May,” Alina Cho told the chic gaggle of guests at Genesis House on Wednesday evening, “is AAPI Month, and so, in honor of that, I was hoping we could gather some ‘FOKs’ – Friends of Khaite – to experience a bit of Korean culture and what better way to do that than over a delicious meal here.”
It’s also been a year since the salon dinner series was launched so there was ample reason to celebrate.
Cho first saw Khaite on a label in 2016 at The Apartment, the cool store concept on Greene Street by Vanessa Traina, who was a guest on this evening.
“I got off the elevator, and the first thing I noticed was this unbelievable sleeveless dress with buttons that curved down the front,” Cho said. “I remember it was so simple, so chic and so fresh, and unlike anything I had ever seen.”
For the occasion, Cho gathered a chic group that included Louisa Jacobsen, Rachel Espersen of Genesis House, Lauren Santo Domingo, Virginia Smith, Nicole Phelps and Willow Lindley of Vogue, Lauren Sherman, Beth Buccini, WWD’s Alex Badia and more.
The real mark of success, Cho added, is when people refer to a style as “that’s so Khaite.” And on this evening, the sentiment was omnipresent.
