Sotheby’s has teamed up with Gabriela Hearst for a special jewelry collaboration.
The auction house and Hearst are coming together to celebrate Sotheby’s High Jewelry sale on Dec. 9 at the auction house’s new global headquarters at the Breuer Building, marking the first luxury auctions to take place at the celebrated New York Landmark.
The CFDA member curated a personal edit of ten pieces from the sale, reflecting her refined aesthetic and creative design excellence. The collaboration also marks Hearst’s auction debut with the unveiling of her first-ever High Jewelry creation designed exclusively for Sotheby’s.
Her inaugural design – a pair of colored stone, diamond, and colored diamond “Alpha and Omega” earrings (estimated at $60,000–$80,000) – will be sold to benefit Amazon Frontlines, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the rights and lands of Indigenous peoples in the Amazon.
The CFDA member has always designed around her philosophy “honest luxury,” which guides her fashion collections to honor material integrity, thoughtful construction and positive social change. (Hearst has honored different non-profit charities during her final runway bows, including the ACLU, Save the Children, and Sound Future.)
“When Sotheby’s asked me if I would curate the High Jewelry auction, I felt someone just offered me my dream job. I have been fascinated by jewelry since I was a child, and always question why we dress our bodies with jewels for millennials, their meaning. Since Neolithic time, we have had this fascination,” Hearst said. “I can lose myself mesmerized by the craft and the stones themselves. Nature’s generosity of always giving the very best – not only our lives but objects we can adore and adorn ourselves with. This is an extraordinary collection that I was not only privileged to curate but interact with.”
To complement Hearst’s curation, Sotheby’s has styled standout pieces from the upcoming High Jewelry sale on models wearing Gabriela Hearst’s collections, offering a singular vision for how to style and wear jewelry today.
This creative partnership bridges the worlds of high fashion and high jewelry, highlighting both as expressions of artistry, heritage, and conscious luxury.
