Lucy Wallace Eustice

Lucy Wallace Eustice and Monica Zwirner established MZWallace in 2000, after finding inspiration from city life and their aim to design distinctive accessories for women who lead dynamic lives. Their influential brand encourages females to feel confident while carrying their timeless accessories. In 2016, Monica and Lucy became Members of the CFDA.

What is one piece of advice that you would give someone who is at the start of their career?

Keep your eye on the prize. Don’t give up – all the sane people give up when the going gets tough (Which it will…repeatedly).  Stay focused with a point of view. Do not try to be everything to everyone.

Who is your most admired cultural heroine? Why?

Gloria Steinem.  She is a champion for women in every way, without being angry, and without hating men.

Women’s roles in society have changed dramatically over the past several decades. How have these changes had a personal impact on you?

My mother worked full time, while getting her PhD at night. I never thought for a moment that I couldn’t do anything I wanted because I was female. If anything, I was impacted more by age discrimination because I started working so young.

What future goals do you have for yourself?

My future goal is to master how to live in the moment.

Did you always know that you wanted to work in the Fashion Industry?

I’m not sure that I knew I wanted to be in the Fashion Industry, but I knew that I wanted to be in a creative field/environment. The fashion industry has provided that and much more.

What words of wisdom did a significant female figure share with you in your life?

My mother always told me to trust my instincts, and that has served me well.

What in your life has brought or given you the greatest satisfaction or fulfillment?

Putting my family aside, I would say founding and growing, with my business partner, an independent fashion company in New York has given me an enormous amount of satisfaction. Nothing is more fulfilling then seeing your own company grow.

Women’s roles in society have changed dramatically over the past several decades. How have these changes had a personal impact on you?

I believe that for women, the opportunities for entrepreneurial endeavors are greater now than they have ever been. I don’t think I would have been able to start, run and grow a business in the way we have, had it not been for the work that so many other women had done before us.

What future goals do you have for yourself?

My current goal is to find time to meditate twice a day!
