Fearless Fashion Females: Lisa Salzer-Wiles

February 2, 2018

Lisa Salzer-Wiles found inspiration for Lulu Frost from her grandmother, who worked in the estate jewelry business. Salzer-Wiles is empowered by strong, independent women but she is not afraid to celebrate gender unity. In 2013, she teamed with husband Marlon Taylor-Wiles to launch unisex collection George Frost with hopes that society’s viewpoints continue to move forward. We caught up with Salzer-Wiles to get her take on how she’s become a successful businesswoman.

What is one piece of advice that you would give someone who is at the start of their career?

The most important thing is to just start.  You can never prepare enough—you must take step one before you can be at 10.  Start small, but do one big thing each and every day and you will build what you want most.

Who is your most admired cultural heroine?

There are many, but the short list includes: Joni Mitchell, Grace Jones, Patti Smith, Kara Walker, Cindy Sherman, Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keefe, Angela Davis and Rosa Parks.

What moment, in your career or personal life, are you most proud of?

That we are starting to wake up as a society.

Women’s roles in society have changed dramatically over the past several decades. How have these changes had a personal impact on you?

All good.  I was ready, I am ready and will remain ready for whatever changes will continue to come to this society. Forward!

What future goals do you have for yourself?

To remain in light, as David Byrne so eloquently put it.
