Dallas native Lela Rose married Brandon Jones in her hometown, at the Dallas Museum of Art. We checked in with the designer to find out more about the special day, her dress, and advice she has in store for soon-to-be brides.
Describe your wedding gown and why you chose this particular design.
I designed my own gown. We had a tree-themed wedding as I love the symbolism of trees and their
long-lasting endurance. To follow the theme, I had a tree branch embroidered around my gown, and
have used the same embroidery motif to cover our bedspread.
What is your favorite memory of your wedding?
We had two Elm trees placed at the altar that were in honor of family members no longer with us. I
loved standing among them. We subsequently planted those trees at our family ranch and always
point them out to our kids.
What is the main piece of advice you would give to brides?
All of the money and effort is not worth it if you don’t smile and have fun on your wedding day— so
make sure that you don’t lose sight of the reason you are celebrating…and enjoy it!
