DVF Partners with Woolmark for Spring

It’s no secret that climate change is impacting worldwide weather patterns, thereby making trans-seasonal clothes all the more relevant to today’s consumer.

Enter Australian Merino wool, which boasts such trans-seasonal benefits and works in almost all climates. Just ask Diane von Furstenberg. For Spring 2018, the DVF brand partnered with The Woolmark Company to develop a series of ultrafine Australian Merino wool sweaters, including one crew-neck version with black sleeves and a star motif.

Woolmark’s relationship with von Furstenberg dates back to when the designer and CFDA Chairwoman was a judge for the International Woolmark Prize in 2012. An introduction to luxury spinner Tollegno and knitter Dongguan as part of this new partnership led to the new designs.

“Featured in our Spring ‘18 campaign, the Merino sweaters are star pieces of the season,” said Philip Atkins, Vice President of Global Merchandising at DVF. “Cut in an ultra-fine Merino wool blend with figure-flattering stretch, they are soft, breathable and perfect for the spring season. DVF is proud to continue using ultra-fine merino wool in our signature bold color combinations, and to design garments that speak to our belief in putting the woman’s desire to look and feel good at the core of everything we do.”

There’s also a short film on the journey from the Italian mill to DVF’s Meatpacking District headquarters which is part of the designer’s #DVFCraft series.

Woolmark is also a partner of the CFDA. Merino wool’s moisture management properties keep the wearer warm in winter and cool during the warmer spring months. It’s also natural, renewable and biodegradable.

“Breathable and durable, Australian Merino wool can also be dyed a variety of vivid colors,” said The Woolmark Company Managing Director Stuart McCullough, “complementing the bold signature aesthetic of the Diane von Furstenberg brand.”
